Day-to-Day Itinerary

• Day 01:
  Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International airport the guest will be received and transfered to the hotel.
  Evening: a short briefing about the trek.
  Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
• Day 02:
  Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2850m) andtTrek to Phakding (2680m).
  The early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla highlights the snowline of the Himalayan Range to the north and the rugged landing at Lukla airport, which is said to be one of the most spectacular flights in the world. After a short break, the trek starts by following the trail leading to the northwest direction, which ultimately descends to the river at Phakding (2682m).

• Day 03:
  Trek to Namche Bazzar (3450m).
  Follow the Bhotekoshi through forest and pasture land, along the valley dotted with small Sherpa Settlements. Cross the Bhotekoshi and climb steeply, along switching back trail, lies the large Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. Near the half waypoint, views of Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8511m) can be seen. This prosperous town is one of the largest in Khumbu. Mt. Thamserku (6,648m) and Kwangde Ri (6,624m) loom along in the east and west of the village. The sacred mountain Khumbila (5,707m) dominates the skyline along the west. Duration of trek- 6 hours.

• Day 04:
  Namche Bazzar – rest day for acclimatization.
  Day trip to Khunde / Khumjung and Syangboche and descend back to Namche for acclimatization.

• Day 05:
  Trek to Tengboche (3860m).
  Walk to the checkpoint to have the permits checked. Then walk uphill for a short period to reach a huge prayer stone from where the path straightens and we get magnificent views of some of the Himalayan ranges.

  Later we descend through the rhododendron forest, watching the blood pheasant and Imphayan pheasant in the undergrowth. As we reach the valley, we come to the Imja khola (river) and stop for lunch at Phunki (3200m), next to several large water driven prayer wheels. The afternoon is spent climbing slowly on a steep trail to the Tengboche Monastery, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

  Tengboche lies at the foot hills of Kangtaiga with classic settings and superb views that back up the Ama Dablam valley, and the Everest poking its southwest face over the huge ridgeline linking Nuptse and Lhotse. At the rear is the beautiful west face of the Tamserku (6,608m) and Kang Taiga (6,685m).
  The Tengboche Monastery is one of the most important monasteries of the Khumbu Region and the late afternoon can be spent visiting this ancient Monastery. It is a traditional place where all Everest Expeditions receive their blessings as they walk towards the base camp. The duration of the trek is - 5 hours.

• Day 06:
  Trek to Pheriche (4,280m).
  En-route to Periche, if you are lucky you can Nepal’s national bird the "Danphe". Near Gorakshep, you are likely to see Tibetan snow cocks racing happily down the hillside. A few houses and the gompa of this tiny village of Devuche are in a forested area to the west, and the nunnery is on the hill to the east. From Devuche the trail passes through many mani walls deep in rhododendron forests. There is a trekkers’ aid post operated at Periche, supported by the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) and Tokyo Medical College. A western physician attends during the trekking season. This establishment, and the doctors who operates it, specialize in the study and treatment of altitude sickness and strive to educate trekkers about the dangers of too fast an ascent to high altitudes Trek duration: 3-4 ½ hrs.

• Day 07:
  Rest day at Pheriche or optional side trip to Chhukung.

• Day 08:
  Trek to Lobuche (5018m).
  The trail ascends through the broad, gently sloping valley from Periche to Phalang Karpo. The views of Tawachee and Cholatse (6440m) are particularly good from this portion of the trail, which passes through the country reported to be the habitat of the snow leopard and the yeti. Some people stay overnight at Dugla as suggested by the doctors but many of them go to Lobuche.

• Day 09:
  Trek to Kalapathar (5545m) and back to Gorakshep (5170m).
  We start our day early in the morning. After about a one-and-half-hours walk we get to see the Khumbu Glacier. The path becomes tougher not because it’s uphill but because its more rocky and high. We reach Gorakshep in about three hours. This was the base camp for the 1952 Swiss Everest expedition.
  Gorkshep has a small lake that is usually frozen and several monuments to climbers who have died during various Everest expeditions. The carved stone in memory of Jake Breitenbach of the 1963 US expedition and the monument of Indian Ambassador Mr. H. Dayal, who died during a visit to the base camp after the 1965 Indian expedition, are towards the northeast side of the lake. Most of the trekkers reach Gorakshep by lunchtime and they have enough time to climb Kalapatthar and get back to Gorakshep.

• Day 10:
  Day trip to Everest Base camp (5364m) and back to Lobuche – 8 hrs.
  The trip to base camp, while fascinating is not as spectacular as the ascent of Kalapathar because there are no views of Everest itself from the base camp. Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Nuptse, which loom over the Base Camp, blocks the view of Everest. The trail continues on a ridge from where a little glimpse of Mt. Everest can be seen. At the end of the ridge, a scrabbling descent leads to the entry into the Khumbu Glacier. The trail through the glacier is interesting as one can actually feel as if one is inside a fridge with cold seeping from all sides.

  The Everest Base Camp is also the site for the base camp for Lhotse and Nuptse. It is not actually a specific site as various expeditions have selected different locations for a semi permanent camp during their assault on the mountains. Some of the sites that expeditions have used, as base camps are identifiable form debris on the glacier at 5364m or more.

  However, the highlight of this trip is that one can see the sight of the Khumbu icefall and trekking along side the Khumbu icefall itself is an interesting and an exhilarating one. Later return to Gorakshep for dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Dinner and overnight camp at Lobuche.
• Day 11:
  Back trek to Dengboche (4350m) Back track all the way to Thukla from where the path diverges towards Periche. Walk down hill to Periche, which is windier, and continue to Somare for lunch. After lunch, walk for another 3 ½ hours to Devouche.

• Day 12:
  Back track to Namche Bazzar. Duration - 6 hrs.

• Day 13:
  Back track to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
• Day 14:
  Fly to Kathmandu.
  After early morning breakfast, walk to the airport and fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, our representative will transfer you to hotel Yak & Yeti. The rest of the day is at leisure for optional activities, sightseeing tours or shopping.
  Evening: Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
  Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
• Day 15:
  Transfer to airport for final departure.
• Day 16:
  Transfer to airport for final departure.
