INTRODUCTION
Everest trek involves a tremendous amount of up-and-down walking. All the rivers in this part of Nepal flow south form the Himalayan glaciers, but the trek route proceeds east. Therefore, the trail must climb to the ridge that separates two rivers; descend to the river itself, and ascend the next ridge. Even though the trek begins at an elevation of 1860m; on the sixth day it crosses the Dudh Kosi at only 1500m. After a considerable uphill climbing, the trek reaches Everest base camp at an elevation of 9000m. The Nepal Himalayas are best seen on this trek as one traces the main route through the Khumbu Region from the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. The trekkers get a close view of the world's greatest mountains: Everest and others.

After two to three hours "huff and puff" you reach the summit not to be disappointed for your effort at all, as the views from here are well worth the effort you put in? Everest (8848m), showing more of its northern flank than from Kalapatthar, with Makalu (8475m) further to the east and Cho-Oyu (8153m) towards the north makes a mesmerizing view to watch. The route starts back to Dingboche with a walk through the long walled paths of the village, and a gradual ascent along the flanks of the hills below the village before a steep drop to the Doodh Koshi. A little further, the route joins the main trail coming from Pheriche. The route then passes through the village of Pangboche (3985m). The Scalp of the Yeti, which was taken around the world in the 60’s, can be seen here housed in monastery on the hillside.
