Note: Journalists and Diplomats are now allowed to travel on a normal Tourist Visa. Their visa authorization must come directly from Beijing and so we cannot accept them on our normal tours unless they have a clearance from Beijing.

Day-to-Day Itinerary

  • Day 01:
    Kathmandu / Lhasa
    After breakfast transfer to airport for Kathmandu / Lhasa flight, one of the world's most spectacular flight viewing Mount Everest, Gauri Shanker, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, etc.
    Visit the castle of Yambulakhang, the oldest known dwelling in Tibet and Trandruk Monastery built by Songtsen Gompo in 7th century.
    Overnight at the Zedang hotel.
  • Day 02:
    Sightseeing tour around Zedang
    Drive west of Zedang and cross the Tsangpo in a flat bottomed boat then a 45 minute drive over rough road brings you to Samye Monastery founded in 779 by Trisong Detsen, Tibet's second religion king after he had invited prominent Buddhists from India including the most famous - Padmasambhava and Santirakchita.

  • Day 03:
    Zedang / Lhasa
    Arrive Lhasa. Meet / assist and transfer to Lhasa Hotel. Lhasa - The capital city of Lhasa, situated at an altitude of 3607 meters (11,830 ft.) lies on the north bank of Kyichu river in the province of U (central Tibet). Visit Old Lhasa, the Tibetan section, centers around the Jokhang Temple and New Lhasa, the Chinese section, was built in the last 30 years around the base of the Potala with a Revolutionary Museum below the Potala that displays the evidence of Chinese wrought economic and social change during the past 30 years.

  • Day 04:
    Lhasa sightseeing
    AM: Explore beautiful Potala Palace with its marvelous architecture and the center of political and religious power for the Dalai Lamas.
    PM: Visit Norbulingka and Jokhang monasteries which contains the summer palaces of 13th and 14th Dalai Lamas and the spiritual center of Tibet from the 7th century A.D.

  • Day 05:
    Drive Lhasa / Shigatse
    After breakfast drive to Shigatse with altitude 3.900m (12,800 ft.), Tibet's second largest city and the administrative center of a vast area near its richest farming areas. Also visit at the western trip, beneath Mt. Dormari, Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen lamas and of Tibet greatest monasteries.
    Overnight at the hotel.
  • Day 06:
    Drive Shigatse / Gyantse
    Gyantse - altitude 3,800m (12,465 ft.) is about 210 km from Lhasa and was once Tibet's third most important city. In former times it was a fort, the centre of Tibet's wool trade and a gateway to the outside world. A high rocky ridge topped by a ruined fortress ruins through the middle of Gyantse, dividing it into two parts. On the west is a large monastery complex and part of the original city with a market street.

  • Day 07:
    Drive Gyantse / Lhasa
    After breakfast drive to Lhasa. Arrive Lhasa check-into hotel.
    Overnight at the hotel.
  • Day 08:
    Early breakfast and transfer to the airport fly back to Kathmandu.
